Tiggers and Eeyores
Children move into the Tiggers and Eeyores round about the term after their third birthday. This is governed by the governments funding which entitles every 3 and 4 year old to 5 x 2 ½ hour education sessions a week for 33 weeks of the year. These sessions are 9-11.30 and 12.30-3.00pm.
During the education sessions the Tiggers and Eeyores work together to access all the areas of learning in each room.
Our educational provision has been developed to provide opportunities for the children to develop skills in the following areas of the Foundation Stage Curriculum.
- Personal and Social development
- Communication Language and literacy.
- Mathematics.
- Knowledge and understanding of the world.
- Physical development.
- Creative development.
The children develop these skills through a variety of carefully planned adult and child initiated activities. The children are regularly assessed and activities are tailored to suit their needs.
If a child is in the nursery after 3 pm he/she is registered as a Tigger, if he/she leaves before 3pm then the child is registered as an Eeyore.
Staff ratio in the Tiggers and Eeyores is 1 adult to 6 children.
Funding
Children who attend the 2½ hours sessions during term times (i.e. 33 weeks per year) are paid for by Early Years government funding. The children who attend for longer sessions and/or all year round has the early years government funding deducted for their monthly fees.
